Featuring LeDerick Horne & Erin Riehle

LeDerick Horne discovered his gift for poetry while attending college in central
New Jersey. Over the past few years LeDerick has become a nationally recognized             motivational speaker and advocate for people with disabilities. He now
uses his poetic talent to help empower and educate people who attend                                                  his presentations. LeDerick Horne spent most of his time in school believing he did
not have much of a future. A severe learning disability (LD) combined with low
self-esteem led him to doubt he would be able to go to college or pursue a
meaningful career. But, with the support offered for his disability through Project
Connections, LeDerick became an outstanding student, compiling a 3.75
grade point average.  He transferred to New Jersey City University and graduate   with honors from NJCU in 2003.

Erin Riehle is a recognized authority and leader in promoting employment
opportunities for people with disabilities. She is a founder of Project SEARCH,
an employment and transition program that has received national recognition
for innovative practices. Her interest in employment for people with disabilities
grew from her frustration with high turnover rates among workers performing
critical tasks such as re-stocking emergency room supply shelves. Ms. Riehle
found that placing individuals with developmental disabilities in these positions
was an effective solution to her staffing problems and improved the quality of life
for the workers she employed. This led to a systematic, hospital-wide
effort to explore job possibilities for people with disabilities. Today,
Project Search nation-wide initiative assisting individuals with disabilities
                            obtain meaningful employment.
